The LaCie 2big Dock is a two-drive hardware RAID that also works as the hub of a video or photo desk. It holds 16TB to 60TB on two hot-swappable Seagate IronWolf Pro drives, reads CFexpress Type B, CFast 2.0 and SD cards straight from the front panel, and passes Thunderbolt and DisplayPort through to your monitors. One cable to the laptop, and the cards, the storage and the screens are all connected.

Speeds reach up to 550MB/s. In RAID 0 the two drives are striped for maximum speed and the full capacity; in RAID 1 every file is written to both drives, so one can fail without losing a project. The drives are 7200 RPM enterprise-class IronWolf Pro units rated for workloads up to 300TB a year, and either one can be pulled and replaced while the 2big Dock is running.

It works with Mac, Windows and iPad with USB-C, and connects to Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4 and USB 3.0 hosts. Every capacity carries a five-year limited warranty with Seagate Rescue Data Recovery Services.

Which Capacity to Choose

Size the 2big Dock for the RAID mode you will use. In RAID 0 you get the full listed capacity. In RAID 1 the two drives mirror each other, so usable space is half: a 40TB unit holds 20TB of mirrored files. Photographers archiving RAW files usually choose RAID 1 and buy one step larger. Editors who keep a separate backup and want speed on the timeline choose RAID 0.

Which memory cards can the 2big Dock read?
CFexpress Type B, CFast 2.0 and SD cards, through the slots on the front panel. Files copy straight onto the RAID.

Does it work with a Windows PC?
Yes. It works with Windows and macOS through a Thunderbolt or USB-C port. Reformatting may be needed for Time Machine on a Mac.
