Hardware RAID covers RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, JBOD and multi-RAID, so one enclosure can hold a fast RAID 0 scratch volume and a protected RAID 6 archive side by side. It ships set up in RAID 5, which gives up one drive's worth of capacity for protection against a single drive failure. All eight drives are hot-swappable, and LaCie RAID Manager reports on drive health.
