Why dye-sublimation for events

Dye-sub prints come out dry, sealed and touch-ready in seconds, with a protective overcoat applied as part of the printing process. That makes them water and fingerprint resistant immediately — which matters when a guest at a wedding handles a print the moment it appears. Inkjet cannot match the speed or the handling durability in a live event setting, and a smudged print handed to a client is a bad advertisement.

Media sets and cost per print

These printers run on matched ribbon-and-paper media sets, and the media determines both your available print sizes and your cost per print. A set yields a fixed number of prints, so plan capacity around your busiest expected event rather than your average one — running out mid-reception is not recoverable. Some models split a sheet to produce multiple smaller prints from one media set, which changes your effective cost per print significantly and is worth checking before you choose a model.
