Best Sony Mirrorless Camera in India: Photos, Video, Vlogging

A pick by need guide to Sony mirrorless bodies in India, from the ZV-E10 to the a7 IV, ZV-E1 and FX30.

For vlogging on a budget, pick the Sony ZV-E10. For one camera that does photos and video well, with a viewfinder, pick the a6700. For full frame, choose the a7C if you want it small, the a7 IV if you want the all rounder, and the ZV-E1 if you mainly shoot video. If you want a video first APS-C body for film work, look at the FX30. All of them use the Sony E mount, so lenses carry across.

This guide covers the Sony mirrorless bodies and kits we list, using published specifications from public sources, and tells you which model fits which kind of shooting.

Sony ZV-E10: the vlogging starter

The Sony ZV-E10 with 16-50mm lens has a 24 MP APS-C sensor, records 4K at up to 30 fps, and has a fully articulating 2.95 inch screen that flips to face you. It has no viewfinder, which suits vlogging and costs you in bright sun.

Best for: first cameras, YouTube, reels, and anyone upgrading from a phone.

Sony a6700: the best APS-C all rounder

The a6700 with 16-50mm lens adds a 26 MP sensor, 5 axis in body stabilization, a built in viewfinder and 4K at up to 120p. It takes one SD card, UHS-I or UHS-II. Autofocus tracks humans, animals and birds.

Best for: one body for family photos, travel and video. A longer zoom kit is the a6700 with 18-135mm lens.

Older a6xxx bodies: a6100, a6400, a6600

If budget decides, the a6100, a6400 and a6600 stay on our list. We compare them in a separate guide rather than repeat it here.

Sony a7C: small full frame

The a7C with 28-60mm lens puts a 24.2 MP full frame sensor and 5 axis stabilization in a body of about 509 g with battery and card. It has a viewfinder and a vari angle screen. Video tops out at 4K 30p.

Best for: travel, street and walk around photography where size matters.

Sony a7 IV: the full frame all rounder

The a7 IV with 28-70mm lens has a 33 MP full frame sensor, 5 axis stabilization and a 3.69 million dot viewfinder. It has two card slots: slot 1 takes CFexpress Type A or SD, slot 2 takes SD. Full frame 4K goes to 30p, and 4K 60p uses a Super 35 crop. The battery is rated at about 580 shots on the screen.

Best for: weddings, events, portraits and hybrid shooters. For the older model, read which Alpha a7 body to buy.

Sony ZV-E1: full frame vlog camera

The ZV-E1 is a 12.1 MP full frame body with in body stabilization and a touchscreen. It has no viewfinder. The low pixel count suits video and low light more than large prints.

Best for: creators who want a full frame look in a compact vlog body.

Sony FX30: cinema style video

The FX30 pairs a 26 MP APS-C sensor with 10 bit 4:2:2 recording and 4K up to 120 fps. It has no viewfinder, a variable angle touchscreen, and two card slots for SD and CFexpress Type A. A compatible XLR handle exists for audio.

Best for: short films, ads and client video. Not the pick for stills.

Buying checklist before you order

  • Sensor size: APS-C is lighter and cheaper. Full frame gives cleaner low light and shallower depth of field.
  • Lens mount: every body here is E mount. Read E vs FE lenses before choosing glass.
  • Video needs: check the frame rates, bit depth and recording limits you need.
  • Memory card: the a6700 takes SD, the a7 IV and FX30 also take CFexpress Type A. See our memory card guide.
  • Battery: the a6700 and a7 IV use the NP-FZ100. Carry a spare for long days.
  • Viewfinder: ZV-E10, ZV-E1 and FX30 do not have one.
  • Availability: stock changes, so ask before you plan around a model.

Frequently asked questions

Which Sony mirrorless camera is best for beginners?

The ZV-E10 for vlogging, or the a6700 if you also want a viewfinder and stabilization in the body.

Is a Sony full frame camera worth it over APS-C?

If you shoot in low light or want shallower depth of field, yes. For travel and everyday use, an a6700 is lighter and the lenses are smaller.

Do I need a viewfinder?

For bright outdoor stills it helps. Vloggers can work from the screen, which is why the ZV models skip it.

Which Sony is best for video?

The FX30 and ZV-E1 are built video first. The a6700 and a7 IV handle video well while staying good at photos.

Can I use the same lenses on APS-C and full frame Sony bodies?

Yes, all are E mount. Full frame lenses work on APS-C bodies. APS-C lenses on full frame bodies crop the image.
