Brightness decides whether it works outdoors in India

A standard 300-nit monitor is unreadable in open Indian daylight. High-bright panels rated 1000 nits and above are what make exterior shooting workable without a hood or a shade tent, and that specification is why they cost several times more than a generic monitor. If most of your work is exterior or daytime, prioritise brightness over resolution.

The tools that make a monitor a judgement device

Waveform and vectorscope give objective exposure and colour readings instead of a subjective look at a screen whose own brightness you cannot trust. False colour maps exposure to colour bands so skin tones can be placed precisely. Focus peaking confirms critical focus on fast lenses where the depth of field is millimetres. And 3D LUT loading shows a graded approximation of log footage on set, so a client sees the intent rather than a flat, washed-out image and asks why it looks wrong.

HDMI or SDI

HDMI suits mirrorless bodies and short runs; the connector is fragile and the cable is not designed for distance. SDI locks on, runs long cable lengths reliably, and is what cinema cameras output.
